Church is More Than Expected

in Church

For the less common church attendee, those who tend to go twice a year for Easter and Christmas services, church is much more than a two day affair.  It is a serious religious practice that not only occupies the Sunday of each week but works as a guide to the moral compass, and helps people better understand themselves and the world they live in.  It is a group of people they share a common bond with and can rely on in times of need.  It is a bevy of citizens who work to help the less fortunate, speak the word of God to those who may be lead astray, and worship their lord and savior to thank Him for all the knowledge and blessing He has bestowed upon them through their lives.

There are those who scoff at the idea of going to church.  They believe it is a group of hypocrites who put on a façade and don't truly practice what is being taught in the services they attend.  While this may be true in some cases, church is not about those who attend, but rather what someone puts into their belief.  It is not just a building people go to for worship.  It is an idea that is best served through the open minds of people who are willing to put forth the work necessary to make the world a better place.  Some may be misguided, misunderstood, or just plain crazy, but there are radicals in every religion.  The best way to view church and Christianity is for the message it is trying to tell.  Peace, love and respect are the main laws that Jesus was trying to teach.  These are the tools that are to be used in our everyday lives.  These are the teachings that are being passed on through the true Christians.  These are the guidelines for a better tomorrow.
